The Big Game standup series rods are designed for the offshore fisherman who wants a "one-on-one" fight from the standup position without the use of a fighting chair. The Big Game series is designed for battling predators from the deep such as giant Marlin, Tuna, Shark and Wahoo. They are constructed from only the top names in rod building components - Aftco guides and butts with Calstar west coast blanks. We take these top components and utilize our 35 years of rod building expertise to assemble a rod that will handle years of tough battles with large fish plus looks sharp enough be a head turner at the dock. The BG-C72U-HH is the perfect rod for heavy weight line standup fishing and is rated for 80 to 130 lb. test lines and matches well with 50 or 80 class reels. This rod features silver Aftco Wind-On Roller guides and Tip, an Aftco unibutt for light weight and strength and an extra long 14" hand-crafted hypalon grip. This grip is made from the highest grade of hypalon and we hand shape them on a lathe after they are glued to the rod for the most comfortable shape and texture. In addition this rod features a short curved standup aluminum butt which transfers the pressure of fighting a fish from your back into your legs and also lowers the tip of the rod for a longer power stroke. To complement this rods outstanding performance, we wrap this series in a classic yellow under, black over with three ring trims for guide wraps along with the standard Sea Isle Crosswind base wrap.
